Keep area use and population in the crime comparison
Rotterdam’s wider municipality includes port areas as well as residential districts. In the comparison above, read the population beside the count before comparing a port-area wijk with somewhere you might rent. A rate based on very few residents can be misleading. Use the category relevant to what you need to check—home access, bicycle storage or where you would park—then inspect the address. Neither a large count nor a resident-based rate establishes a tenant’s chance of being affected.
Coverage, years and rates
The comparison includes every Rotterdam wijk in Politie table 47018NED, using its 2025 boundaries. A wijk is a statistical district, not a separate entry for every smaller buurt or street. The source was updated on 15 April 2026. Counts include attempts and may be revised. The trend shows raw annual counts for 2023–2025, rather than rates calculated with a single year’s population.
Only the 2025 count is divided by the population at 1 January 2025 and multiplied by 1,000. This is Hey Haven’s calculation, using CBS / PDOK Wijk- en Buurtkaart 2025; wijk populations are randomly rounded to multiples of five. Counts remain visible when the rate is unavailable because population is missing or below 50; that population threshold is our display rule. Missing offence data is not zero.
