Annual counts for 2023–2025 · 2025 geography
These are selected categories of recorded offences, including attempts. Visitors, commuting, reporting and enforcement affect counts. They do not measure perceived safety or your chance of becoming a victim, and are not a neighbourhood ranking.

Both places and all three years share a scale starting at zero. The scale adjusts to your selections. Earlier years show counts only, without dividing by the 2025 population.
Hey Haven calculates only the 2025 rate: recorded offences ÷ residents on 1 January 2025 × 1,000, rounded to one decimal. It is not a police-published rate. Rates are unavailable when population is missing, zero or below 50; this is our display rule, not police suppression.
CBS rounds wijk populations to multiples of five, so the calculated rates are approximate. City rates use the direct municipality population record.
Missing or unpublished counts remain unavailable; they are never treated as zero. A displayed zero means the source recorded zero offences in this category.

Tables start with the highest rate. Sorting uses unrounded rates; equal rates keep their source order. Unavailable rates always stay last.

This comparison covers Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht, Eindhoven and Groningen. Choose two municipalities and an offence category above, or open a city page to compare its local wijken. A gemeente is a municipality, a wijk is a district within it, and a buurt is a smaller area. The city totals come directly from police municipality records; they are not sums of the wijk rows.
The six categories are home theft/burglary, bicycle and moped theft, theft from motor vehicles, pickpocketing, assault and street robbery. They contain police-recorded offences, including attempts, rather than convictions or a total of all crime. Bicycle theft includes mopeds, and theft from motor vehicles includes items taken from inside a vehicle or from its exterior. Home theft/burglary is not limited to forced entry.
Counts, population and years answer different questions
For 2025, Hey Haven calculates recorded offences ÷ residents × 1,000, using the population at 1 January 2025 from CBS / PDOK Wijk- en Buurtkaart 2025. The result is shown to one decimal place, alongside the count and population. Wijk populations are randomly rounded to multiples of five. When population is missing or below 50, the rate is unavailable; this threshold is our display rule. Missing offence data is not zero.
The 2023–2025 trend shows raw annual counts on a common scale. We do not divide earlier years by the 2025 population or compare a partial 2026 total with a complete year. All three years use the police table’s 2025 boundaries, so check the official area name before applying a figure to a rental address. The city pages include every wijk listed for that municipality in the source.
Use the figures to decide what to check
A resident-based rate does not tell you the chance that you, your bicycle or your home will be affected. Visitors and commuters also use an area, and reporting and police activity affect what gets recorded. Read each category separately, then check the home’s entrance, storage and daily routes. These counts do not identify who commits offences or describe the behaviour of local residents. They cannot support a safety ranking or an inference based on nationality, birthplace or household composition.
Sources and revisions
Offence counts come from Politie table 47018NED, Geregistreerde misdrijven; soort misdrijf, wijk, buurt, jaarcijfers. It covers 2012–2025 and was updated on 15 April 2026; historical counts can still be revised. This page uses the complete annual figures for 2023–2025. Population definitions are in the CBS Wijk- en Buurtkaart 2025 documentation.
Other CBS crime tables use different counting rules and offence classifications, so their figures cannot be substituted into this police comparison. For population, housing and everyday service comparisons, use the separate neighbourhood guide, which explains its own data years and coverage.
